Excellent rechargeable chainsaw - needs bigger batteries though.
UPDATE 21/5/20Had to return this chainsaw as the motor started smoking and stopped working whilst I was cutting some 200mm × 100mm garden sleepers for decking. I'm hoping it was just a dodgy one, because I really like this easy to use and effective machine. I like it so much I've ordered another one and hope this one lasts a lot longer.Excellent stuff! The 2ah battery it comes with lasts a fair while, but I've already got a B&D 18v drill and know that this chainsaw would need bigger batteries, so I invested in 2 x 4.0ah 'energup' LB4018 compatible batteries as well. I've cut up 5x 2.4m sleepers into 18" & 24" blocks and 4x 75mm x 75mm x 2.4m fence posts on 1 fully charged 4.0ah battery, before having to change batteries. So well worth investing in the 4.0ah batteries if you can AND they fit in the rest of the B&D 18v range too.It comes with 1x 10" (25cm) chain & is easy to assemble without any additional tools. The 2.0ah batteries take 2.5hours to charge, the 4.0ah batteries take around 3hours to charge. In addition to the chainsaw (which needs the blade to be installed before use), you will need a good quality chain lubricating oil (I used the same oil as I use for my petrol chainsaw). The oil filler cap is on the top of the machine, between thegrab handle & thumb trigger. The only other accessory you might need, is a chain sharpening tool, if you intend to use this machine more than I have done.I have photos of it in use, but for some reason, cannot upload them for this review.

I have had a black and decker cordless chainsaw for some years now and its been brilliant. The only let down is is that black and decker used the worst ni cad batteries the world has ever seen. I had about 10 18v batteries and only 2 or 3 were any good and they all went flat if left off charge for any amount of time. So I decided to get rid of all the old ni cad stuff and start collecting the new range of lithium ion powered tools and what a difference. There is a vast improvement over the old stuff and the quality is much better. This chainsaw has a longer bar and a better chain oiler than the old one and also the chain speed is faster meaning the chain doesn't bounce about as much. And being cordless its so much safer than a petrol one, especially for light use in the garden. It has coped effortlessly with anything I've tried it on as long as you don't try and force it. Another benefit is the fact that all the new stuff takes the same battery.

Cuts well but short battery life
Lightweight and easy to use. Comfortably cuts 4 x 4 and 5 inch diameter logs. Drawback is a short battery life when cutting the larger pieces. I did around 35 cuts from about 2 inch to 5 inch diameter. Fine for me as I'm just cutting wood for a fire pit.

great bargain
Bought this chainsaw at the reduced price of £119 and am very happy. Assembly was easy enough, I charged the battery to full before first use, filled small tank with chainsaw oil and started using the machine. I am female and needed a chainsaw that is light enough, easy to handle and does the job. And I m not disappointed. The chainsaw is really well balanced and not heavy. While my hubby cuts big trees with a Stihl I cut smaller trees up to 8/9 inches with this25cm Black&Decker. Logging is easy too. The battery lasted over 40 mins of logging smaller trees. I also have a 4AH battery and I feel that the chainsaw works even better with this. It also lasts longer. With this slightly heavier battery the chainsaw is still well balanced. Charging for both batteries is quite some time with the original charger , only half the time with the fast charger we already have for another B&D tool. All in all: for this price a bargain and does jobs around the garden or smaller jobs in the forestry. I can really recommend it and would buy again

Misleadingly expensive
This is a hard one to call. On the one hand it is lighter and quieter than than petrol alternatives. It all also holds its own well when on full charge. On the other hand the battery that it ships with is useless, it runs out in twenty minutes flat with light use. Heavy use will deplete it quicker. I’ve had to buy a bigger battery which cost over £60 adding to the overall cost of the chainsaw. Finally the charger is asthmatic; a full charge especially for the bigger batteries takes more than 8 hours. A bummer when you run out of charge mid job. The fast charger is very dear and will only add to the already burgeoning cost of the thing. In hindsight I should have gone for good quality petrol chainsaw; electric chainsaws are still a novelty item at present

Good enough
Not going to cut down any redwoods with a battery powered saw, but works great for occasional around home use

Short Battery Life
This product is easy to use and probably just the job for people with only the occasional need to use a chainsaw. Its biggest drawback is the short period for which it holds its charge - cutting through chunky logs the battery lasts about 15 minutes and then takes several hours to recharge fully. So it's taking me a few days to get through a job which a professional with a big petrol driven saw would do in a couple of hours (probably rather less). I'm not in a hurry so can live with it, but those who want to get a job done in a continuous afternoon's work will be disappointed.

Excellent for logs up to 7 inch
I was in two minds about buying this saw as the reviews were mixed. In my experience this is fantastic. I chopped up logs with ease. The saw is so light and went through the wood like butter.Chain is sharp and solid.Absolutely pi** easy to assemble and to tighten the chan no tools needed.I used petrol saws in the past, and no it is not as powerful. It's not meant to be!As a log chopper it's brilliant.I ordered a bigger 20v battery which is 3.0ah (£22) and with it & the 18v battery that comes with it chopped over 60 logs. It was still going when I called it a day. In regards to what it'll cut - up to fire size - some of these I did were over 8 inch diameter, it didn't struggle. It uses standard fit B&D batteries (that fit drills etc) and so if you have a few of these kicking about you can saw all day.
