BU-2 Radio Tranceiver Bluetooth Adapter (BU-1 replacement) By Yaesu Standard For VX-8DR , FTM-400DR Transceiver

I am not going to say that this thing is amazing.mit is not, however, it functions as advertised. I wanted to be able to listen to the handheld with the Bluetooth headset. I do. In fact, the headset game me more trouble than the little circuit add on. I hate to read instructions so, I didn't. After banging my head for 20 minutes, I decided to give up and read the darn thing. We'll, with in 2 minutes, Bingo! Had it for 2 weeks now. No complains.Could it be better and faster, perhaps, however, I am just happy it works.

Minimally useful in that it only supports very old Bluetooth standards. If you have a current-generation Bluetooth headset you may as well pass on this add-on. I found an old set of headphones that I got for free in a trade show goodie bag which paired successfully and work fine, but nothing I have in the house after 2010 or so will pair.Short version: pass on this and use a wired headset.

sounds good works good but its just a bluetooth for a head set nothing more and is very limted to what devices it will work with;dont buy it unless yah just have to have it :P.

I've owned several VX8dr handhelds with both the BU-1 and BU-2 module installed and currently have 2, both with the BU-2 version. I don't see much difference between the 2 versions, but the BU-2 perhaps has better quality audio (just an observation).I use the VX8 connected to a J&M motorcycle headset and the results are flawless, but the main use for a Bluetooth connection from an Amateur handheld is for the broadcast band, I have an Oontz Angle Bluetooth speaker and when it turns on, it instantly connects to the VX8 and plays perfect stereo broadcast stations. This is an excellent product.

I have the BU1 adaptor (and the BU-2 is supposedly improved with 8 channels) in a couple of my FTM-350 radios. I wear hearing aids. The BU-1 pairs nicely with my Smart Connect medallion that I wear around my neck for streaming audio. I can ride in my vehicle or sit watching TV with my girlfriend and discreetly listen to ham traffic with her not having to put up with the chatter. I'm very happy with the adapter. Once it's paired the radio remembers the streaming device.

Very disappointed. The BU-1 works much better. The BU-2 is NOT COMPATIBLE with non Yaesu headsets. Be warned.
