Very good writing pens are weighted, and this pen is mostly weighted in the upper portion, making it more awkward to write with. It should be equally weighted down the entire barrel of the writing implement. Looks beautiful, though.

I originally bought this pen because I liked the look of it and I have a fair collection due to this. Sadly some do not live up to their promise when it comes down to writing with them.Not so this one. It sits beautifully balanced in the hand and when you put pen to paper it fairly glides across it. Of course you will need to consider the ink as well but the refills provided with the pen do not drag, or ball up around the top or smudge.
